Canada Day - and the weather was great. Warm and hot, but the thunderstorms held off. Thanks to
Landmark Court (Revera) for inviting us to their special day. Thanks to all the seniors who ventured outside to enjoy the weather, and to help celebrate Canada's Birthday
The Waterford Retirement hosts the Jock River Jazz Band Aug 22 2020
Another beautiful evening, perfect temperature for some HOT Dixieland Jazz. For this event we were lucky to have the services of Neil Sealy, well known Ottawa bass player.
A performance in Manotick (MILLERS SENIOR APARTMENTS) gave the group a chance to visit the historic Manotick Dam. This was built in 1860 to power a grist mill, and today provides fishing and picnic opportunties for vistors from many places. And today after the performance, the group made time for a quick photo OP!
Another day of great weather, after a solid week of RAIN. The grass is green, and the group had a chance for a relaxing break in front of Watsons Mill. This site is a local tourist attraction, and produces fresh ground whole wheat flour for home made bread with NO preservatives. This site (and Dickinson House) are supported by a large team of volunteers and City of Ottawa for tourist enjoyment.
For 100 years the Ottawa Lawn and Tennis club has operated on Cameron Ave in Ottawa. The clubhouse was built about 1930 - when the members purchased a piece of farmland on the edge of the city.
The Jock River Jazz was happy to help the 100ths Anniversary celebration (July 2 2023) with some period music - Dixieland Jazz from 1920/30 era. The weather was great, and a sold out crowd for the celebration and festivities.
Jock River Jazz Band - perfect weather for a New Orleans style lobster fest!
The last days of August - warm and sunny - provided the setting for our most recent venture. The Jock River Jazz Band visited Maplewood Retirement community, for the celebration of their New Orleans style Lobster Fest. Lots of hot music and some spicy food. Perfect weather - and a great setting for a summer party to be remembered.
Many thanks to Neil Sealy - and his base. Its great to have someone available to help when needed, even better when Tradional Dixieland music is his specialty
When the customer called, and we were unable to field a full team, the Jock River Jazz boys leapt into action. Why not field a TRIO instead of a Quartet.
Our regular trumpet (John Mitchell) was fully engaged with Oktoberfest gigs, but - can you play Dixieland standards with a 3 man group - you bet.
So the event at Ravines was a big success, and Dixieland Music rides again!
This is the group in celebration mode. Our customer was celebrating his 40th birthday, and invited his friends and family to the Ottawa Tennis and Lawn Bowling Club (OTLBC) on Cameron Ave.
A great celebration of a special birthday, complete with the Jock River Jazz Band and some 1920's music. We were at the OTLBC a year ago for their 100th anniversary celebration. A great site for some great parties.
Back to Landmark Court - for July 2024
For this year I was unable to attend, I have a very important personal event (my 80th birthday party!) However the Jock River Jazz TRIO was able to participate at Landmark Court, and make this special day memorable for all.
Count on the Jock River Jazz Group for DUO, TRIO or Quartet performances. Lets make your event really memorable!
Peter and Craig were asked about a NY Eve performance, but the rest of the team wa s booked elsewhere. The DUO spent the evening at the VISTA on Sparks St (412 Sparks St)
Count on the Jock River Jazz Band for quality entertaiment. We do small groups (duo) up to the full group (quartet)
Mardi Gras season again, and the Jock River Jazz Band had an invitation from the Good Companions to provide a traditional Dixieland performance. (Feb 19). This was a compliment to the Mardi Gras lunch. Many thanks to Darlene Powers and the GC team. These events are fun for everyone involved.
For this event we imported the skills of James Arif, and his psychodelic sousaphone
